Evangelism at Mansfield's Gay Pride Event

9/1/2015

Comments

Picture
This past July a Gay Pride rally was held in Mansfield, complete with a parade through the town and celebrations through the afternoon and evening.

We at Providence Church did not take this wickedness lightly.  It was a serious concern for prayer.

Thanks to the organizing efforts of our in house evangelist a group of men from the church went to the event to pass out tracts, engage in evangelism, and stand for righteousness in the land.  The picture above shows the men gathered in prayer prior to their going out to the event.

There were a number of good gospel conversations that were had during the outing.  We estimate that there were about 300 tracts passed out, which would have covered the majority of the people who attended the event.

We pray that these men and women will come to a right understanding of sexuality and offer repentance that is pleasing in the sight of our Savior.

A few of us from Ashland participated in the national protest against Planned Parenthood by standing & praying outside the Mansfield Planned Parenthood facility.  A good number of people came out from a variety of churches too.  It was a great statement.

God save the children!  #defundPP

Sheldon's Publish New Book: Resolute

4/1/2015

Comments

Dave Sheldon, who attends Providence Church, and his daughter Keri have just published the book they have been working on together for the last several months.  The book is entitled "Resolute: An Unwavering Stance on the Truth of God's Word."

Here is a summation of the book as taken from their website:
The standard for Christianity is pure and sound biblical doctrine. If that standard is compromised, muddled thinking and false teaching become the new norm. Is it possible that even current mainstream evangelicalism has submitted to such negotiated ways? To find out, this book addresses three popular topics including hearing God's voice, experiencing God, and telling "your" story.

The conglomeration of thought within these subjects is astounding. Should Christians care if the majority are immersed in teachings not found in God's Word? Even further, is it possible there is a growing apostasy within the visible church? Could Antichrist appear on the scene when and where we might least expect? The authors wish to bring the truth of Scripture to bear regarding these topics.

This week, as we remember the events of Passion Week, Providence Church will have services at different locations.

First, a Good Friday service will be held at Kendig Park in Hayesville (20 E. Main Street).  It will commence at 6:30 pm and run approximately an hour.  This is an informal service and those who attend are encouraged to offer personal reflections on the cross.

Secondly, on Easter Sunday Providence Church will be meeting at the Mohican Outdoor School, which is located at 5370 Bunkerhill North Rd (directions here).

A carry in breakfast will be served from 9:15-10:15 am.  We invite you to join us for this time of fellowship.

The service will commence at its normal time (10:30 am).  Matt Timmons will be preaching a sermon entitled, "Persevering faith looks beyond this world and beyond the grave" from Hebrews 11.

We look forward to your joining us for the worship of our Risen Lord!

It was our great joy to welcome another little one to our church.

It was also a blessed opportunity to see baby Alanna's parents stand before the congregation and publicly vow to raise this little one in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

Alanna makes the fifth baby born into our congregation this year.  We look forward to a few more coming in the next few weeks!

May the Lord be praised for His great gifts!

New Meeting Location to be Tested

9/23/2014

Comments

Attention members & visitors:

Due to growth we will be testing a new meeting location in hopes that it will afford us some more space.

Please be advised that on October 19th and 26th we will meet at the Cabin restaurant.  The Cabin is located St Rt. 603, just a bit further south of the Lion's Club (directions).

The Cabin has a meeting room that holds 150, and should afford us a little more room.  We know that this will not be a long term fix for our situation, but we hope that it might provide at least some temporary relief.

So please be advised that October will be a different month:
  • On the 5th we will have our normal meeting at the Lion's Club.
  • On the 12th we will meet at the Mohican Outdoor School.
  • On the 19th & 26th we will meet at the Cabin.

All of these will have the same service start time (10:30).

Please feel free to ask any questions, and certainly try and spread the word!
